RETAINING WALLS GUIDE
Look At The Slope And The Water
Before a wall estimate, note where the ground drops, where water collects and how you want to use the space. If an existing wall leans, cracks or moves, photograph those areas. Discuss drainage at the same time because water and grade can affect the scope.
Start With The Ground
Note the slope, where soil moves and how you want to use the space. An existing wall may show movement, cracking or drainage stains that should be discussed.
Watch Where Water Collects
Water around the wall can affect the scope. Take photos after rain and point out any pooling, erosion or drain outlets.
Discuss The Entire Project
Ask about access, the condition of an existing wall and drainage work that may belong in the estimate. A site review is needed before deciding whether repair or replacement is appropriate.
A retaining wall and the water around it need to be considered together. The appropriate scope depends on the property.
